I'm a little late, but I'm just reading this report about the shooting of Vonderrick Myers Jr., by an off-duty officer in St. Louis, Missouri. I'm really praying for St. Louis. Why do the police keep on shooting to kill people?? Myers was shot 16 times, according to reports. Really? 16 times though? As if once wasn't enough.
IF someone is coming at an officer, the officer should shoot them in the leg or maybe tase the person. But they should not be shooting to kill. Myers was not even coming at the officer. He only had a sandwich in hand, according to several individuals in the community. So sad.
You are not above the law just because you wear a badge. When is all this foolishness going to stop?? This is crazy. Then I read statements like "the officer was not injured, and a gun was recovered at the scene." Really?? Who cares about that officer? What about justice for Michael Brown and Vonderrick Myers and for others who have had to experience stupid excessive force at the hands of the police? When will walking while black NOT be a crime in this nation?
This is my design for a front-and-back business card for the Sheraton Imperial Hotel & Convention Center! The General Manager loved the concept, sent it to get it printed, and we got 1,000 cards yesterday! So excited! God's blessed me so much! I am so thankful to the Lord, for He has allowed my gift to make room for me. Moreover, I am glad I get to contribute to the success of this hotel.
Just reflecting on the message I heard at New Horizon Church this past Sunday... If you want to improve your relationships with others, take responsibility for what you do and say to them. Look at a bad relationship and you'll find an abundance of life-taking words. Look at a good relationship and you'll find an abundance of life-giving words. If you don't have anything nice to say, please don't say anything at all! There are many times when silence is actually golden! LOL.
If you do have something nice to say, then please do share it. Share that compliment. Share that great idea or concept. But if you are sharing your insights with others, do so in love, not from the standpoint of acting like a know-it-all. In reality, many people are driven, in part, by their emotions, by how much they care about certain things, and by how much they see other people care about what they care about. So people don't care about how much you know until they see how much you care.
Just a little food for thought....
Attitude doesn't just happen. It is something you choose. If you improve your attitude, you can improve how you go through various things. And you can improve your life. Try to avoid life-draining attitudes and take on life-giving attitudes. You can choose not to hang out with negative people and choose not to dwell on negative thoughts and ideas. Choose to replace negative thoughts with God's thoughts (Jeremiah 29:11; Philippians 4:8).
"... the gifts and calling of God are without repentance" (Romans 11:29).
In the New Century Version it says, "God never changes His mind about the people He calls and the things He gives them."
In the Greek, repentance is "metanoia." It means "a change of mind; change in the inner man."
Once God calls someone and once He gives him/her something, God does not take it back. His mind is made up. In fact, His mind was made up about His exact plans for every thing and every person from before the foundation of the world. God's plans are flawless. They are perfect. We might not understand everything that God wants to do, but we need to trust Him. When has God ever failed us? Never. Man can fail, and man has many times. But God never fails.
God has done what He has done, and He does what He does, and He will do what He will do in order to draw mankind to Himself for the sake of having a relationship with us. Despite whatever you have been through or have witnessed someone else go through and you ask, "Why me?" or "Why them?" just know that God has a plan. When it's all said and done, everything will have worked out just as it should. Every gift God has given you is for a special reason. God's called you to be what and who you are for a reason. Seek Him to understand why. Be encouraged!
I just want to encourage and inspire as many people as I can for Jesus Christ.
