False Gospel: Follow Jesus + Old Testament dietary and ceremonial laws
It is important that we trust in the complete work of Christ on the Cross.
Look at the Old Testament:
- God’s Moral Law
- God’s Ceremonial/Dietary Laws
- Israel’s Civil Laws (based on their historical context)
What transferred from the Old Testament to the New Testament:
- The 10 Commandments except the Sabbath law, since Christ fulfilled that for us.
- God’s Moral Law
1 – Believe that God’s grace saves us.
God is awesome to everyone!
The Holy Spirit is received when you believe in Christ and receive Him as your Lord and Savior.
Differentiate between how you feel and what you believe.
Our feelings are fleeting, but what we believe tends to stay.
You might be feeling bad one day, but do you stop believing that Jesus is Lord just because you feel bad for a short time?
Do you trust your feelings or do you trust what God Word says?
Trust God’s heart.
2 – Believe that God’s grace completes us.
If someone gave you a bunch of parts for something and told you to put it together, could you do it?
God is our Creator. He knows how to put us together.
It’s not about trying to get your ducks in a row and clean up your mess before presenting yourself to God. We cannot clean up ourselves enough. We are sinners and “we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags” (Isaiah 64:6). Bring your mess to God. He can clean us up by the blood of Jesus.
Let’s build on the foundation of God’s acceptance of us, then add the good life (life in Christ), then the good works, then yourself, the person, not the other way around.
3 – Believe that God’s grace redeems us.
Think about Abraham. Back then in his time the Law was not there. All he had was his faith in God.
Let God’s grace take over.
God is ready for you to experience His great forgiveness.
I just want to encourage and inspire as many people as I can for Jesus Christ.
