Feel free to use the following in a Bible Study discussion or to simply read it and gain some insight for yourself. I hope this blesses someone!
Think About It
You can be in a certain position and have information about something. You can have all the tools to do a particular project. However, until you apply the information and until you actually use those tools, nothing will change. You will still be in the same position. When we hear the Word of God, we have information. When we apply the Word to our lives, it means we are doing what it tells us to do. When we do what the Word says to do, we can experience something special: transformation.
Why is sometimes difficult for us to completely surrender to God’s will?
Sometimes we don’t always feel like doing what God says. Why is important for us to not base our decisions on how we feel?
Knowing God’s Word and actually applying it are two different things. In what ways has applying God’s Word to your life transformed you personally? How have you seen the application of God’s Word transform the lives of people around you?
Read Romans 12:1. How can you present your body to God as an act of worship? What does this look like on a daily basis?
Matthew 5:29-30 reads: “29 And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.
“30 And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.”
Is it possible that you are looking at the wrong things? Is it possible that you are misusing your hands for wrong activities? What areas of your life is God asking you to sacrifice to Him?
Lord, we thank You for Your divine will. Your way is truly the best way. Please forgive us for the times that we rebel against you because we are seeking do things our own way. Help us to surrender to You and follow Your leading each day. Help us to trust Who You are and what You say, for You are great and You are good. We thank You and praise You, in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Have you submitted every area of your life to God? James 1:22 tells us that we are to be “doers of the Word, and not hearers only.” Sometimes we try to justify why we apply one part of God’s Word to our lives, but not another part. If you are struggling with applying God’s Word to your life, find someone that you can trust who can hold you accountable for your growth in Christ. God does not want us to be stagnant in our relationship with Him. He wants us to go “from glory to glory” (2 Corinthians 3:18). But before we can go from glory to glory, we have to go from faith to faith. That only happens when we are consistent in obeying God’s Word.
I just want to encourage and inspire as many people as I can for Jesus Christ.
