Yesterday I had the chance to talk to an elderly couple as they were telling me stories about how they overcame certain tough times. The wife had a rare health condition (she didn't say what it was called, but if I recall correctly, it was something that caused her nervous system to fight against itself). She went to one hospital in NC and they misdiagnosed her, and acted like they didn't care, and boy was she highly upset! So she and her husband went to Johns Hopkins hospital in Maryland and they took really good care of her. Thank God she recovered!
Then the husband's story is that he was hit from behind while riding in a car by someone going 70 mph in a 45 mph area. He flew out the car into another lane of traffic. This truck pulls over to block traffic so no one would hit him. Meanwhile, the husband is knocked out. When the husband comes to, he just asked, "Where is my wife? Is she ok?" ... He ends up going to the hospital somewhere and the doctors find no broken bones. He only had a concussion. The doctor said that he didn't believe in miracles, but he believes in acts of God. The husband should have been dead. But he felt the delayed pain the next day for sure.
But I say all that to say this: people's testimonies can be so powerful. Never discount them. The husband and wife individually had to ask God, "What do You want me to do?" They understood that they could have been worse off. They didn't want to pray selfish prayers. Clearly God has a plan for their lives. So I love hearing people's testimonies about how God brought them out of some tough times. It encourages me to keep pressing on!
I just want to encourage and inspire as many people as I can for Jesus Christ.
